  • Overview

    The Divisional Leader of Restaurant Training is responsible for delivering effective Training to all Restaurant-based Crewmembers within a Division. This position directs and oversees teams responsible for day-to-day training, development and facilitation across Company Restaurants within the assigned Division, aimed at providing stable growth and adherence to Cane’s high standards for Crew and Customer experience, while maintaining strong financial performance at the Restaurant level.


    This role will partner directly with Operations and key stakeholders to assess Restaurant learning needs, certify training Restaurants, identify high potential talent, deploy new systems/programs, deliver ongoing training and development, and open new Restaurants. In addition, this position will serve as an ambassador for the brand, lead a large team, deploy industry-leading training & development programs, and create positive learning environments which align with the brand identity, and fully align with Raising Cane’s mission, values and goals.


    The Divisional Leader of Training is responsible for all aspects of Restaurant training. This includes but it not limited to: Crewmember onboarding and training, Advanced Crew training programs execution, identification and development of high potential Crewmembers, Shift Manager, Operations Manager and General Manager training execution, identification and development of high potential Managers, deployment and rollout of Company-directed initiatives and programs, budgeting for all costs incurred by Training teams and training in the Restaurants, reporting on performance across all areas of responsibility. The DLT leads and directs strategy pertaining to Restaurant training to alignment with Company direction and goals.

    Job Responsibilities

    Restaurant Level Training

    • Forecast training needs for Crew and Management due to both growth and business dictated need
    • Establish and maintain network of Certified Training Restaurants to support growth needs
    • Establish and maintain Trainer population capable of handling all training needs in Restaurants
    • Ensure consistent execution of Crew and Management training in all Restaurants
    • Continually work to improve efficiency and effectiveness of training
    • Measure and analyze training effectiveness on an ongoing basis

    Deployment and Rollouts

    • Lead strategy for deployment of new initiatives and training
    • Ensure high quality and thorough rollouts, utilizing current adult learning methodology and facilitation standards
    • Support and deploy compliance training and food safety initiatives

    Restaurant Operations Support

    • Partner with Divisional Operators to assess needs and create training strategies
    • Lead operational support as needed during times of manpower transition, under-performance of teams, severe weather and crisis recovery
    • Plan, design, implement, and follow-up on all projects per annual strategy and needs of local Operators

    Develop Internal Restaurant Talent

    • Identify high potential talent and support ongoing development
    • Create and execute development strategies for developing internal Restaurant talent per needs of the Company

    Alignment and Communication

    • Serve as a functional divisional leader responsible for Regional Leaders of Training (RLT), Area Leaders of Training (ALT) with the ability to positively influence Company results through effective planning, motivation, and execution
    • Partner with Content Development team to align delivery of training and follow up to intended purpose of training; Provide ongoing feedback to improve and adjust training as needed
    • Partner with Restaurant Excellence team to align delivery and support for all Operations initiatives and rollouts
    • Partner with other Departments as needed to support and reinforce initiatives and changes in the field
    • Serve as role model for Restaurant based training positions (RLTs/ALTs) and oversee their development and performance


    Qualifications Required

    • Excellent classroom facilitation skills
    • Seven years of restaurant industry experience in casual dining or quick service
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for change management, teaching and instruction for individuals and adult learners, and measurement of training results
    • Strong work ethic and “hands on” approach
    • High attention to detail; analytical & decisive decision maker
    • Ability to work effectively at senior management level & prioritize workload


    • SPHR or PHR preferred
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

    Education (or equivalent experience)

    • Bachelor’s degree required


    • Microsoft Proficient: Word, Excel & Power Point
    • Will work out of Divisional Restaurant Support Office
    • Travel as required
